Want the secret to getting awesome family photos… trust. Trust your photographer. To get the fun, cute photos of the kids that you all want, I probably won’t have you do what you think. I’m going to engage the kids with different things depending on how they are acting. If one of them only wants to throw rocks, I’m going to go with it and let them do that (within reason) so then when I ask them to do something I want they’ll be more likely to listen, because I just might ask them something else fun to do. We’re probably going to make funny faces and frowny faces and wiggle around and dance around and do all these weird things. But in the process of all this they will become more relaxed, think I’m more fun, and start to show their real smiles. And it’ll probably make you show your real smile too. 🙂 And if they decide that it’s not for them, we’ll take a break and try again later. And I guarantee we’ll get you some great photos even if they aren’t smiling perfectly for them all.
